Couldn’t figure out at first why this wouldn’t be funny in Australia…then I did. DANG I hate this old people stuff!

Am I the only one seeing a google ad for a ‘Free Sex Offender Report’ along with this post? Given the usual bent of this site, it seemed kind of ironic.
I am convinced that the artist who draws Baby Blues has cameras hidden all over my house. It’s scary how many times my life shows up on the strip!

Gasp! The teachers at my godson’s school got another afternoon off this week.
Guess what? The nine and ten year olds walked all three blocks home without getting lost or encountering any discernable danger.
The school people for got to tell anyone about this, so nobody was at the gate to meet them, and we have not coughed up money to pay the school bus to bring them to the corner a half-block away (where an adult is expected to meet each child to walk the rest of the way home in our little cul-de-sac).
Wonderful comic! I can think of some parents who need to think about that. Been trying to convince a few that our second graders can indeed walk home on their own safely, but the parents aren’t ready yet.

Ellen,
When it’s the FIRST joke in THIS Hemisphere it’s….

Thank you Ellen, I feel like an outsider too. I’m in Australia and also cannot understand why this wouldn’t be considered funny here. We have blocks and we know what wolves are. What am I missing?

So glad you saw that! I thought of you when I read it this morning and would have sent you a link if you hadn’t gotten one already!
What’s a ‘block’ anyway? LOL
I do love Baby Blues so. Love it.

haha, so true! I’m eternally grateful that my parents allowed me and my brothers to roam around our neighborhood and woods around our house. here’s another comic that’s appropriate:

I feel like I am an outsider listening to a private joke. Why wouldn’t this be funny in Australia?

Doh, I just got it. The time differences!

Time Differences? Isn’t it a reference to the wolf comment / Azaria Chaimberland?
