Hi Folks — The site has been having technical problems for the last week or so, which is why it now looks different. the big question is: Are any of you still having problems loading the site? (I realize that anyone who can’t load it at ALL will not be here, but the problems do seem intermittent.) Before I undergo a massive overhaul, I’d really like to know if things are already better, thanks to the steps we’ve been taking.
Thanks for your feedback. – L.

I’m seeing everything just fine but I also did not have problems with the site at all this week. I like the new format and fonts. Good luck.
I’m on today but I have been having problems with your site loading.
I’m an RSS follower, so I don’t notice much. Although I didn’t get a double of this post from the feed, so yay!
I take it back, just got the duplicate in my feed. 20 minute delay from the original.
I haven’t seen anything other than some slow loading yesterday. Right now, I am seeing some coding commands right about the response typing field. It starts ‘Allowed XHTML: <
Today was the first time in a couple weeks that your site came up right away. It’s been super slow, or refusing to come up at all, until a day or two ago. The past couple days, just a little slow. Today – just great!
BTW – I like the new look.
I would mostly have problems if I was visiting from my phone. I don’t think I’ve had any troubles since the site change, though.
YES, problems with the site!
It is loading very slowly most of the time, at times I get the 503 again, and on rare occasions it just instantly opens the page I request, which is now so surprising that I always have to look twice to see that I’m already there… Kind of says it all.
To save time I now open different pages (to read new comments on different posts) in new tabs, so I only have to wait once (if they do load, that is). Of course it doesn’t help that this new template puts comments in different pages: more pages to load means more waiting time.
It does work, eventually, sometimes after a second attempt, but all in all it’s a pain in the rear.
Works great for me on both my Mac and my iPhone. (Although: I never noticed problems before, so…)
Seems to be working right for me, wasn’t a few weeks ago but has been recently. If it’s helpful my browser is Chrome.
I have had trouble, as you said, off and on. This time no problem. I’ll let you know if any problems reoccur.
I read the posts using Feedly, which is an RSS reader. I have not had any problems.
I had been having problems getting the site to load at all, but that seems to have stopped with the new layout. However, most of the time it still loads very slow. It took almost a minute for the main page to load, and about 30 seconds for the comments page to load so that I could post this. It doesn’t seem to make a difference whether I’m on my work computer, home computer or laptop.
No problems here.
At present, it seems to be loading slowly, which is better than the last couple weeks where it didn’t load at all, most of the time – I’d reload and within 4 or 5 tries I’d get it. The biggest problem going on right now, though, is that the comment count does not keep up – I’ll look at a new article and it will have 8 comments, then I’ll come back later in the day and the counter will still say 8 comments, but if I click there might be more that weren’t counted.
Yes, for quite some time I have been having problems. Sometimes it loads quickly, but usually very slowly, and sometimes I get an error after a long try at loading.
Yesterday I was receiving constant 503 errors. Today it’s just very slow to load.
Today loaded at a reasonable time, but yesterday 3 attempts to comment.. timing out and 503 errors left, right, and in the middle. It’s gotten to wear I dread coming here.. not because of the content but because trying to load takes forever and several attempts and bogs down everything else running.. as recently as yesterday. 🙁 Sorry you’re having issues 🙁
I think that your WP-Super-Cache might need some tuning.
According to the hidden metric at the bottom of this page, “Dynamic page generated in 7.848 seconds.” It shouldn’t take nearly 8 seconds to serve up a page, especially if you’re caching portions of it.
If you need any help, you have my email!
Kvirtue, the code that you noted above the comment form is supposed to be there. It’s to let you know what kinds of tags you can use in your comments.
Yes. I haven’t been able to identify precisely what always causes glitches.
It seems as though going from a post back to “home” can be a problem, as can recovering after a comment.
Good luck!
I did have some problems last week with pages not loading; under the new setup, I haven’t had any.
Using Firefox.
Couldn’t get on at all yesterday, working OK today.
Extremely slow today. About half the time I get “Service Temporarily Unavailable. The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.” Other half it takes an insanely long time to load.
The site wasn’t coming up (timing out) a couple of days ago. Now it at least comes up, but it takes a long time.
Still loading slowly, very slowly or not at all…
The site in general loaded just fine today, but this is the first time in awhile. The comment page loaded slowly, though.
If you are going to keep the format in which comments are divided into pages, is it possible to old an oldest>newest/newest>oldest sort?
The biggest indicator of trouble is that the sex offender post has only 13 comments. 🙂
I can see it.
Hm. I like disqus and the ability to ‘subscribe’ to comments that comes with it. You had that once upon a time with a different plugin.
This seems to be working, but I’m not sure if I’m just adverse to change or if this look really bugs me.
Just wanted to renew this page, and how ironic! “This page cannot be displayed” Talk about technical problems 🙁
About the look… I know I don’t like change. It feels as if someone has secretly replaced all my furniture overnight. I also miss the visual structure the old template gave – everything seems to be floating about in too large spaces now.
Apart from that, I liked the old place of this ‘Leave a reply’ form better: under the other comments. First listen, then talk! 😀
the site is working good for me today
Yes, experiencing issues with google chrome speicifcally, as well as loading via mobile. I have not had any issues accessing whilst using Internet Explorer (but who wants to use that?)
Loading extremely slowly today. I really, really don’t like the new commenting format especially with no choices (how many comments per page, sort by chronology, etc.).
I’ve been having problems with the page loading slowly or not at all using Safari 6.0.5 on a Mac laptop. Most times I just need to stop the load and reload it and it fixes it. I usually click into the site from a RSS reader.
Not a technical problem per se, but I miss seeing your tweets in the margin.
I have had slow loading problems once and a while, but it loaded fine today. And I rather like the new look.
I’ve had problems getting the site to load for the past week or two. Is it browser specific? I use Safari and had thought about trying another one but haven’t gotten around to it. Since the format change, it’s loaded rather slowly but it has loaded.
I’ve also had issues posting comments. For instance, on the one above, it took forever, then I got a 503 error message, but the comment appeared. Weird.
